I am Alyshia Andersen and while this is my 12th year of teaching, I am new to Lovejoy Elementary. I have had A LOT of change recently, since May 26 I have left a high school position where I was a special education teacher, got married, packed my life, sold a house, got a new job (Lovejoy elementary), left home (St. Louis, Missouri) for the first time ever and drove 11.5 hours with 2 cats and a dog and moved to the great state of Texas. It has been a whirlwind set of events that has left me married to an amazing man, living in a new apartment as we build a house, and blessed to be in such a great district.
Benj (my husband) and I keep very busy with our jobs, working on house plans and playing wheelchair rugby. While he is a member of the team, I am an assistant to the head coach and help out where I can. I recently became a certified referee for wheelchair rugby and look forward to some weekend traveling to tournaments this fall/winter.
Some of the teachers and students give me a hard time, but I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan to the core, and as long as the Cardinals and Rangers are not playing each other I am more than happy to cheer for both teams.
I feel truly blessed to be working with this great set of student and amazing staff and look forward to the rest of the school year.
