Lovejoy Leopards have great character!

Shari Wilson

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in second grade. (A good teacher will do that to you. Her name was Miss Pitman.) I began living my dream in 1998, when I got my first job teaching where I grew up in Van Alstyne. Three years later, I moved to Mt. Pleasant and taught seventh grade English and coached. That only lasted a year. I enjoyed seventh graders, but my heart lies with the little ones. I had always wanted to teach first grade because I wanted to awaken in children that same love of books that I have had since I first learned to read. That desire brought me to Lovejoy Elementary where I began teaching first grade (YIPPEE!). After 14 years in first grade, I was ready for a change! I'm now teaching 3rd and 4th grade GT Integrated Studies. I love it! Not only do I get to continue to build a love for reading and writing, but I get to go to work with my mom. She very graciously comes and volunteers for our school twice a week. I think it is awesome to come to school with my first (and best!) teacher. I am so happy and excited to be here! Who wouldn't be...if everyday, they got to live their dream!
