The LISD librarians excited to share a school wide reading experience that will foster and promote a community of readers at LISD while also celebrating our diversity. The goal is to encourage empathy, perspective taking, and acceptance by prompting Leopards to read books, both fiction and nonfiction, about people who are different from themselves. By immersing ourselves in the stories of others, we can better understand the paths they choose to follow and experience what it means to "WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES." That is our theme for this year's Legacy Read at the elementary schools. Books will be on display and marked with stickers to provide suggestions for book selections.
We will be celebrating the Lovejoy Legacy Read throughout the month of April. Watch for our hashtag #CompassionateLovejoy on social media throughout the month of April. All campuses will be participating in the Legacy Read and promoting our special activities.
