| My name is Lisa James and I am beginning my sixth year here at Lovejoy Elementary. I am happy and proud to say that I have been working with the same group of ladies all along and we have become like a second family. Mrs. Hervey, Ms. Wilson, Mrs. McLaughlin and I truly enjoy working and playing together!
I am a native Texan and have lived in the Dallas area all my life. I graduated from Allen High School and I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart since 1995, Jason James. He is currently serving his sixth year as Assistant Principal at Hart Elementary. We have two beautiful children, Austin and Corie. Austin is my oldest and he will be in middle school at Sloan Creek this year. (Yikes!!) He is funny and caring and absolutely loves to play soccer. He, like his dad, is a scientist at heart! Our daughter, Corie Michelle is eight years old. She will be in Mrs. Copeland's third grade class this year at Lovejoy. I absolutely love having her here with me! She is a smart, creative, expressive, and loving girl!
I began my teaching career in 1996 and I taught 5 years of kindergarten, for which there will always be a special place in my heart !! It was a wonderful beginning to my career. From there, I moved on to Reading Recovery, where I worked with struggling readers in first grade for two years. Then I was fortunate enough to stay home with my two kids for a couple of years. It was a rewarding time with my sweet little ones, but I was all too happy to return to the classroom in 2005. I know that is where my "true self" shows up best! I have been richly rewarded in the five years I have been here at Lovejoy Elementary, both personally and professionally.
Outside of school I enjoy traveling and exploring, sewing, decorating, home improvement, and spending time with my family. I have a real passion for monarch butterflies and gardening. I LOVE Mexican food (the Tex-Mex variety), great children's books, and my classroom, too!! (It's my home away from home!) |
