A Message From the Principal

Good morning, Lovejoy Families,

What a week! This Texas weather keeps us on our toes! Tuesday we had storms and cooler temperatures and Wednesday was just gorgeous – sunny and warm temperatures. I was relieved that our fourth and fifth graders were able to enjoy Hawaiian Falls yesterday.

Thanks go out to Lovejoy Family, the Van Wagoners, for caring about others by taking up a collection during the Wednesday morning drop off in support of families in Moore, Oklahoma. Not surprisingly, you were all quick to drop coins and dollar bills in cans being passed around the driveway and sidewalk. Also, our Kindergarten and 1^st grade Service Project, Walk and Roll, brought in a grand total of $5,762.29 for adaptive equipment for those with disabilities. Yesterday, $1683.48 was presented to the Allen Community Outreach by our 3^rd Graders. This money was the results of our children’s Leopard Spot Restaurant last week. None of this would be possible without your continuous support and generosity. Thank you, Lovejoy Families!

Upcoming Summer Camps

Be sure to check your children’s Thursday Folders for flyers about upcoming summer camps. It won’t take long for boredom to set in and there are many opportunities to fill those summer days.

UIL, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Math Award - Celebration on Tuesday at 8:10

We were fortunate to participate in our annual UIL Contest on the 2^nd and 10^th of May at Puster Elementary. We would like to recognize those who participated and placed in the competition, including our alternates. We will also take this opportunity to recognize students who have participated and placed in other competitions this year. Teachers will be in contact with you if your child is being recognized on Tuesday morning. Please join us this upcoming Tuesday in the Lovejoy Gym at 8:10.

Negative Balance in the Cafeteria

We appreciate you taking care of any charges in the cafeteria as soon as possible. It’s easy to overlook deadlines this time of year. There are so many things going on and we certainly understand!

News from Nurse Kellie

As this school year races toward the final weeks of school, I would like to remind everyone who has medication in the clinic to please pick it up before the last day of school Friday, May 31, 2013. We do have a 12:00 dismissal. Medications will be discarded after 1PM on May 31, 2013.

Please remember no medications are to be sent home with students as our safety guidelines remain that all medications are transported only by parents/guardians.

Sloan Creek Middle School Cho

Will Not Be Returning Next Year

Please contact Registrar Peggy Whitmore at peggy_whitmore@lovejoyisd.net or call 469-742-8083 if you won’t be returning to Lovejoy Elementary or Sloan Creek Intermediate School for the 2013 – 2014 school year, allowing us to make plans based on our upcoming enrollment. Thanks so much!

A reminder that there is no school on Monday, May 27^th, for students or staff. Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

Early Dismissal

We will be releasing students at 12:00 on the last day of school, Friday, May 31^st.

Collecting Left Over Supplies for Honduras

As in the past, we’ll provide boxes in the hallways to collect supplies for children in Honduras. If your child isn’t in need or will not use their left over supplies, we appreciate the donation. Thanks so much!

Last Day for Box Tops Tomorrow

Be sure to get those box tops turned in by the end of tomorrow as it is the last day for our contest.

Lost and Found Items

We do have several bags of lost and found items we’ve collected throughout the year. If your child is missing jackets, sweaters, etc. you may want to stop by to look through the items. Leftovers will be donated to charity this summer.
